Baveno’s lakeside

The Baveno’s lakefront extends from the pier to the historic center of Molino di Ripa near the wonderful villa Henfrey Branca. More than 1.4 kilometers of amphitheater walk that visually embraces the Borromean Gulf with a view up to Laveno, flanked by trees and flower beds with wide avenues, fountains, an arena and games for children, invites you to stop on benches or at the tables of the bar to bask in the sun. A real setting for the town, from morning until evening, when the lighting allows you to take pleasant walks in the moonlight. The first stretch of the lakefront was the one in front of Villa Branca, donated by Maria Branca to the Pro Loco of Baveno in 1906 (in this area there is also a tree planted by Queen Victoria in 1879 when she was a guest of the Henfrey, previous owners of the villa). At the time, in the stretch between the pier square and the Hotel Beau Rivage, the lake practically reached the edge of the state road. The first stone for the construction of the embankment of the lakefront was laid in 1913, but due to the war the works were only completed in 1921. The subsequent renovation designed by the architect Bianchetti, carried out with European funds, was carried out towards the end of the 90s.
